Grekton Prime has extreme weather
variations due to an axial tilt of 42 degrees. The planet is home to a wide
variety of animal lifeforms and vegetation. Several large and medium sized
predators exist in the polar regions as well as in the forested areas of the
more hospitable areas of the planet. About 34 percent of the planet is covered
by water.
Physical
Appearance/Culture: The Ungtok are bipedal insectoids that have
an average height of 1.92 meters. They resemble a mantis and have wings that
are similar to beetle wings, and they have a thick tail with two prongs at the
end. One oddity is that the males have a row of dragon-like spikes protruding
from their spinal column. The males also have longer antennae than the females.
Nothing is known about their culture other than they are hostile toward other
sentient species that they encounter.
Government/History: Like many non-sentient insects, the Ungtok
have a hive society with a “queen” and many workers and warriors. It is not
clear how many hives exist on the planet, but there seems to be a confederation
of various hives that work together for the purpose of raiding other planets
and space-going ships for supplies and resources. The Ungtok are considered to
be pirates by the Ruhl and several other spacefaring worlds within a couple
dozen light years of Grekton Prime. So far, every spacefaring race that has
encountered the Ungtok has found them to be extremely aggressive, and they have
raided less developed nearby star systems ever since the Ungtok developed warp
drive.
Technology: The Ungtok only developed warp drive recently
(about 15 years ago as measured on Earth). Their starships are small and highly
maneuverable at sub-light speeds, but their warp engines are only capable of
reaching warp 4. Their ships have laser weapons and defensive energy shields as
well as hull polarization. The warriors carry two hand-held laser pistols. They
do not have transporter or replicator technology. They currently have a fleet
of thirty-eight ships, and they are on a strict schedule to build more ships at
an orbital construction station at a rate of five or six per year.

Pelax Vas is smaller than Earth and
has a typically warm climate with seasonal precipitation. The planet has one
continent and hundreds of small islands that make up about 57 percent of the
surface with oceans and fresh water sources comprising the rest. The planet has
several active volcanoes, which limit the amount of land that can be inhabited
by sentient life. Many plant and animal species inhabit this world, both on
land in in the oceans and freshwater lakes and rivers. Some of the underwater
plants have medicinal properties that can be used to develop vaccines for a
variety of illnesses.
Physical
Appearance/Culture: Vasi are amphibious humanoids. Their skin
color varies between blue-gray to blue-green, and their bulbus eyes are green.
They are hairless but have tentacles growing out of the back and sides of their
heads. Their ears are shaped like fins. They have webbed fingers and frog-like
feet, and their arms are several centimeters longer than most other humanoids.
In addition, the backside of the forearms and legs have fins. Average height
for males is about 1.76 meters and 1.8 meters for females. Vasi have an average
lifespan of 132 years. Vasi are omnivorous but prefer to eat underwater plants
that grow near the shorelines of the main continent.
Government/History: The Vasi are ruled by a hereditary monarch,
but the people have many freedoms to live as they see fit. The monarch is not
an absolute ruler but does make decisions to settle disputes among the citizens
and represents his world to other planetary governments. The Vasi, in response
to the benevolent invitation of the Pelaxians, colonized and took possession of
Pelax Vas after their home world, Vas, was made uninhabitable by an asteroid
strike several decades ago that wiped out most natural resources and billions
of inhabitants. The few survivors were evacuated by the Pelaxians and were
joined by the crews of the Vasi small space fleet that had been away searching
for a habitable planet to colonize when it was discovered that their planet was
in danger of being hit by the asteroid. Vasi are pacifists and would never harm
others of their race or of other races except in self-defense. The Vasi are
allied with the Pelaxians.
Technology: Vasi technology is comparable to Earth of the
early to mid-22nd Century. Based on information shared by the Pelaxian captain
that made first contact with the U.S.S. Raleigh, Vasi ships are limited
to a top speed of warp 4.1. Due to their pacifistic philosophy, the Vasi have
not developed weapons for their starships, but the ships do employ a form of
ablative armor and energy shields for protection. The Pelaxians have recently
shared schematics for improved warp engines and improved shield technology with
the Vasi.

Vaxi has a rocky barren surface
with minimal vegetation and only microbial life on or near the surface;
however, the planet has many subterranean caves and grottos that are inhabited
by sentient and animal lifeforms. The planet is slightly larger than Earth.
Within many of the deep caves, various crystals grow and are essential to the
needs of the Vaxinaal people. The planet was once class M, but most of its
atmosphere was lost when an asteroid exploded a few hundred meters above the
surface about two thousand years ago.
Physical
Appearance/Culture: The Vaxinaal are subterranean dwellers. After
the asteroid decimated the surface of their world, the survivors found shelter
underground and built shelters to live and work in. They found that many
aquatic animals lived in the grottos, which became their main source of food.
Vaxinaal are humanoid. They have cloven hooves instead feet, but their arms and
hands are similar to human upper appendages. They do not have exterior ears,
but they have fleshy tubes that hang from the side of their heads. The average
height for both males and females is 1.7 meters. They
have white hair that grows in a line from the top to the base of their heads.
Males also have a white goatee on their chin. They have purple eyes their skin
is dark with a dark purple hue. They wear loose, sleeveless tunic tops and
loose fit pants and cloth belt wrapped around their wastes. The Vaxinaal are
telepathic.
Government/History: The Vaxinaal do not have a specific leader or
traditional form of government; however, they are not anarchists. They are
connected to each other by telepathy and make decisions that affect the entire
society through a unity of thought and consensus; however, they do not have a
hive mind like the Borg. They respect individual thought, and they have the
ability to block private thoughts from others. The Vaxinaal see themselves as a
people who serve and protect other inhabited races that are less developed, so
they visit several worlds that have not yet developed warp drive and render aid
and protection when needed. They have built several meaningful friendships
among other races within about sixty light years of their world.
Technology: In the deep caves, the Vaxinaal discovered
crystals that provide the foundation for their technology. Certain crystals
enhance the telepathic communication and senses of each individual. Other types
of crystals store information, others store energy. Some crystals illuminate homes
and places of work, and some are fashioned into staves that are used as
portable lights for travel through the caves. It is not known how long the
Vaxinaal has had warp drive, but it is assumed that they developed it prior to
the asteroid explosion. The orbital stations and defense platforms have been in
existence for at least four hundred years. The Vaxinaal have transporter
technology and use it as the sole means for transport to the orbital facilities
since they do not use any form of surface-to-orbit craft. They recently started
to terraform the surface in hopes that they can return the planet to class M
and its former glory even though it may take hundreds of years.

Velanwar is like Earth in size
and appearance. The planet’s land mass makes up about 42 percent of the surface
with two major continents and a few large and hundreds of small islands.
Vegetation is abundant on most of the planet’s surface. Several smaller animal
species live in the forests and open plain areas and many species have been
domesticated as food sources A few medium to large predatory species keep the
smaller wild animals from overpopulation.
Physical
Appearance/Culture: The Velanwar are humanoid; however, the most
prominent facial feature includes sharp cheekbones. Skin color has several
variations that run from light tan to medium dark brown. Their average height
is comparable to most humans. Eye color for most is gray or brown, but some
Velanwar have blue eyes. Their hair color varies from light brown to dark
brown. Men’s hair length is usually cut short while woman have elaborate
hairstyles, favoring long braids that wrapped in buns. Their average lifespan
is 94 years. The Velanwar prefer peace with other races and have a belief that
sentient races should work together to benefit each other. They also live their
lives according to the wisdom of their ancestors and follow the wisdom
contained in ancient scrolls, but they also embrace technology.
Government/History: The Velanwar have maintained a central world
government for several decades after several small differences in political
ideology almost led to a war between the largest two nations and a few of the
smaller ones.
Technology: Velanwar technology is comparable to Earth of
the late 22nd Century although they have only had warp capability for less than
fifty years. They do possess transporter technology but prefer not to use it
for transportation of sentient life forms. Velanwar has a small fleet of
starships that are equipped with warp drive; their top ships of the line have a
top speed of warp 6.2. The Velanwar are like humans in their desire to explore;
however, they have not traveled more than thirty light years from their home
world so far. Due to contact with the Enkara, the Velanwar have developed
particle beam weapons, torpedoes with nuclear warheads, and deflector shields
for self-defense.

Velor is slightly larger than
Earth. Most of the planet’s water is underground, but there are several large
lakes and rivers on the surface. There are few forests, but the planet has many
grassy plains areas.
Physical Appearance/Culture: Velorans are
marginally humanoid. They range in height from 1.6 to 1.9 meters in height
(both males and females). They have light green skin and green eyes and a
vertical column of three short spikes protruding from their foreheads. Velorans
have two upper arms with two forearms extending from each elbow. Each of their
four hands has three fingers. Each knuckle also has a short spike, which can be
deadly for most opponents during a fist fight. They are extremely ambidextrous.
Typical hair color is black or dark brown and both males and females usually
wear their hair short. A Veloran’s average lifespan is one hundred twelve
years. Both males and females wear similar style of leather-like clothing.
Government/History: Velor is a constitutional monarchy, ruled by
a king or queen. The ruling monarch is the eldest person of the royal family,
so succession is not necessarily from parent to offspring. In addition to the
ruling monarch, an elected planetary council represents the people and enacts
all laws. The council consists of seventy-two representatives, two from each of
the thirty-six provinces. Each province also has a governor appointed by the
ruling monarch and then confirmed by popular vote. If the monarch’s appointee
does not win confirmation by at least fifty-five percent of the people, a new
appointee will be chosen and presented for confirmation. The governor serves
for a term of twelve years unless the ruling monarch terminates the term early,
but termination only occurs in extreme circumstances.
Technology: Velor’s level of technology is similar to
Earth’s as of 2378.

Welva is essentially Earth-like
in size and appearance. The two major continents are heavily forested with
various plains and mountains. About 68% of Welva’s surface is covered by water.
Weather patterns tend to vary little year-round, but noticeable seasonal rain
and snow are normal.
Physical
Appearance/Culture: Welvans are humanoid. They are taller than
most humans, averaging 2.1 meters in height (both males and females). They have
copper colored skin and dark brown eyes. Their hair color ranges from yellowish
blonde to light brown. Males typically wear their hair at shoulder length,
whereas females usually let their hair grow to the middle of their backs. They
have slightly pointed ears, but the tips are more rounded than those of Vulcans
and Romulans. Like Vulcans, the Welvans enjoy a lifespan greater than most
other known humanoid species. The average lifespan for Welvans is three hundred
sixty-two years. Men dress in satin-like robes with loose-fitting pants.
Females wear satin-like dresses, usually various pastel colors. The head of a
clan wears a thin silver band on his head. These crowns are eloquently
handcrafted, and the design identifies the clan of the wearer. Males typically
carry a bow and quiver of arrows wherever they go. Archery is both a
traditional and ceremonial activity. The Welvan clans compete annually in
athletic games—similar to Earth’s Olympics. Each winning contestant wins a
golden bow, and the clan leader receives a life-size statue of a Welvan slaying
a veelat, an extremely large deer-like animal that is a major source of meat
for Welvan dietary needs.
Government/History: Welva has been a clan society since the
beginning of the planet’s recorded history. The clans are typically peaceful
toward one another, but occasional disagreements have occurred between certain
clans; however, there has never been a war fought in Welva’s history. The clans
have enjoyed a united planetary government for several centuries. The eldest
child of each clan’s leader makes up the ruling council. Welva contacted the
United Federation of Planets in 2374 and established an Embassy on
Technology: Welva has a sophisticated technology, but the
people have chosen to keep that technology behind the scenes due to a
philosophy of being one with nature. Communications and public long-distance
transportation are used between cities and villages, but Welvans prefer to walk
or ride hoofan (similar to a horse but has a rhino-like horn on its nose
with four nostrils) wherever they go when traveling within a few kilometers of
their homes. They turned toward the exploration of their star system in Earth
year 2259 and broke the warp barrier in 2352. First contact with the Federation
took place in 2374 when a Welvan scout ship entered

Zanaria is a highly developed
world containing hundreds of towns and more than forty major cities located on
three of its four continents. About 64 percent of the surface is water. The
major cities have populations of two hundred thousand to one and a half million
people. Most towns range in size from a few hundred up to thirty thousand
residents. Many agricultural centers exist in the fertile regions.
Physical Appearance/Culture: Zanarians are
humanoid with a few minor physical distinctions from Earth humans. Zanarians
have six digits on their hands and feet, and their heads are slightly larger
than most humanoids along with a horizontal bony brow ridge. Eye shape is more
rounded than oval and iris color favors the blue end of the spectrum for most.
Very few Zanarians have brown eye color. Hair length is usually worn at
shoulder length or longer and sometimes tied back into a braided ponytail
(males) or braided buns (females). Hair and skin color variety are similar to
that found among Earth humans. The average lifespan for male Zanarians is 104
years and 98 years for females. Zanaria has over three hundred languages, and
each Zanarian is proficient in at least a dozen different languages. Their
linguistic skills make them valuable as translators and linguistic researchers
throughout the Federation. Zanarians, although not fully physically mature
until they reach about twenty-two years, are considered adults by age fourteen,
and they typically marry by age sixteen. Children are highly valued, and most
couples usually have five to seven children. Zanarians only marry once and have
no concept of divorce.
Government/History: The people hold an election every 10 years to
choose a king or queen, who has the responsibility of appointing a cabinet of
ministers to head up the major areas of responsibility such as a Minister of
Finance, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Science, Minister of Education,
etc. Also, the king or queen appoints governors over each of the major cities
and surrounding areas and town administrators. In addition, the people elect
advocates and judges to keep the king/queen from making decrees outside of the
law and to settle disputes between people. The laws regarding each city or town
are proposed by the governors and town administrators and voted on by the
people. Laws pertaining to the entire planet are few and relate to the basic
rights and needs of the citizens for a unified productive society.
Technology: Zanaria’s development of warp drive is less
than one hundred years old, but the technological knowledge of the inhabitants
has grown quickly to the point that the Zanarians are at the same level as
Earth is currently. One exception is that the Zanarians did not develop
transporter technology independent of other races and received the technology
from the Federation upon Zanaria’s entrance as a member world in 2358.

Not much is known about Zaros other than what could be
obtained through a long-range scan. It is class P and smaller than Earth.
Physical Appearance/Culture: Probe robots 0are
bipedal mechanisms with the apparent function of searching for and exploring
planets in order to learn about resources and alien life with the intention of
transmitting that data back to the planet Zaros. Upon first contact, it appears
that the race that created the Probe Robots is not hostile.
Government/History: Nothing is known about the people who created
the Probe Robots.
Technology: The Probe Robots are sophisticated machines
that seem to have limited sentience. They seem to operate under an organized
rank structure. The robots are equipped with rocket backpacks that allow them
to fly within a planetary atmosphere as well as in outer space. The starship
operated by the robots has FTL capability to match at least warp 5.7. The ship
has defensive laser weapons and nuclear guided missiles as well as polarized
hull plating and ablative armor. The ship also has multiple repulse beam
emitters instead of deflector arrays. The ship utilizes a variable gravity
drive for maneuverability and planetary egress and regress functions.

Jorel IV is a beautiful planet
with many grasslands, forests, and freshwater lakes and rivers. About 55
percent of the surface is water. Although the Zell have not developed warp
drive, they are aware that sentient life exists on other planets, and other
races, including the Welvans and Pelaxians who have visited Jorel IV on
numerous occasions.
Physical Appearance/Culture: The Zell are
humanoid with only minor physical distinctions from Earth humans. Among these
differences are slightly larger ears and noses. If a Zell travelled to Earth,
he or she would probably not be recognized as an alien. Males and females both
have an average height of 1.9 meters. The Zell skin, eye, and hair coloration
has many variations. Men and women have total equality when it comes to
leadership in the home and in public life. They share responsibilities in all
areas of life. Most people prefer to live in small towns and rural areas, and
cities are fairly small compared to cities on many other planets that are at a
similar stage of development. There is a near-perfect balance between
agriculture, industry, medical, and public service careers. The average
lifespan is 94 years.
Government/History: There is no central planetary government, but
several nation-states exist on Jorel IV. Most nations have good relations with
each other, but a few have shown aggressive behavior toward neighboring
countries, usually over border disputes or economic issues. Some nations are
led by hereditary rulers while most have democratically elected councils and/or
representatives to lead. Many people in several of the nations are currently
entreating their leaders to start working toward a unified planetary
government.
Technology: Zell technology is
currently similar to mid-21st Century Earth but has not focused on manned
space travel, being content with unmanned satellites and probes sent to other
planets in their star system. The Zell have developed magnetic levitation
vehicles.
